Okay well i've decided the lan and its nerds and the website for the lan and its nerds are not quite nerdy enough so i'm putting a nerf discusion thread on the website for the lan and its nerds and their nerf guns.

LAN De Auguste

Ze forum is dead and i'm feeling cheeky so i thought i would start the thread for the next lan. I know its still july and i know i'm not an admin, think of it as me being helpful

I suggest we get a game of Red Faction: Guerrilla going. Seems relatively simple to get lans running to start with, don't wanna be screwing with another game that won't work after 5 hours of tinkering. And i know you all know the alternative is me screaming "Section 8!" for the remainder of the night.

PC Mods

Well, thought i'd start my return to the forums from the social prison that is world of warcraft by starting a new topic in my favourite part of the forum

Having purchased my brand new 5870 and realizing to my horror that PhysX is king (6fps? WTF?!? ), I googled solutions to the problem in the form of dedicated PPU cards. Long story short, i found a way to use my old 8800GT as a dedicated PPU via the use of a "dummy plug" (evangelion much?), which i am to create tomorrow. Its basically a DVI to analogue plug with 3 resistors bridging some holes to make the card think theres a monitor attached, and with the installation of a physX mod the 8800 will process physics data independently whilst the 5870 and CPU do their allocated tasks

Neat huh?

And given that my 8800 overclocks like a really overclocked thing, i am cautiously optimistic about a minimum fps score of ~30 in section 8 (full detail) *crosses fingers*
